纽约布鲁克林，有一个意大利家庭，每到月圆之夜，他们仿佛被施了魔法，会做出一些莫名其妙的举动。洛丽塔·卡斯托里尼（雪儿 Cher 饰）是家里的独女，年轻貌美，是公司里的会计师。因为前夫遭遇车祸，而成了寡妇。某晚，在酒馆里，洛丽塔目睹了邻桌分手的惨 剧，仿佛受了刺激，决定跟41岁的单身汉强尼结婚。她让强尼用尾戒求婚，于是众目睽睽之下喜结连理。不过，因为母亲病重，强尼离开了纽约，临走时让她邀请弟弟罗尼（尼古拉斯·凯奇 Nicolas Cage 饰）参加婚礼。她去面包房见到罗尼，后者听到婚事异常激动，并讲述了反对的理由。她据理力争，他根本不听。后来，她邀请他到家里做客，希望兄弟俩冰释前嫌，却没想到在一番激烈的争吵后，他们之间的关系发生了微妙的变化……
