和许多已为人妻为人母的女人一样，乔凡娜（乔凡娜·梅索兹殴诺 Giovanna Mezzogiorno 饰）一边享受着平静的生活所带来的宁静和安全感，同时又为一成不变的婚姻感到厌倦。为了维系家庭，乔凡娜曾经放弃了自己的理想，现在想来依旧感到遗憾万分，再加上一个不解风情的古板丈夫，使得她尚未老去的内心开始蠢蠢欲动。
隔壁那个名叫洛伦兹（雷欧·波瓦 Raoul Bova 饰）的男人吸引了乔凡娜的注意，透过厨房的窗户，乔凡娜偷窥着他的一举一动。机缘巧合之下，乔凡娜和洛伦兹相识了，欲望的火焰燃起一发不可收拾。但是，随着时间的流逝，乔凡娜发现局面渐渐开始失控，她和洛伦兹之间的关系也变得扑朔迷离起来。
