本片是根据1963年发生在英国政治圈内，著名的〃普佛墨丑闻〃所改编。导演迈克尔.卡顿.琼斯(Michael Caton-Jones)另有「英烈的岁月」、「赤胆豪情」等作品，布里奇特.方达（Bridget Fonda，「黑色终结令」）在片中还装出英国腔参与演出，此外〃年轻食人族FYC〃的主唱罗纳德.弗雷泽也在片中轧了一角。
