◎简 介
梅耶在一家面包店工作，同时利用业余时间来接生和抚慰孕妇。自多年前从萨摩亚移民到现在住的地方，他一直过着简单而平静的生活，但是他的家人已经不在身边了。原来梅耶曾经家暴使得妻子、女儿都离家而去。直到女儿意外怀孕，又被男朋友暴打之后逃到自己这里，他才发现自己的罪还没有赎完。他之所以为孕妇接生，是因为他既有对新生命的期待，也有对之前暴力生活的赎罪。梅耶一直延续着传统的保胎方法，拒绝现代的医院和接生技术。《一千根绳》是一部深刻反映家庭关系、救赎与新生的电影。
