亚伯（路易斯·加瑞尔饰）上大学时和女朋友玛丽安（蕾蒂莎·科斯塔饰）住在一起。某天早上，玛丽安告诉亚伯她怀孕了，这让他很高兴，然而玛丽安却告诉他孩子是他最好的朋友保罗的。于是亚伯搬了出去，玛丽安和保罗结婚并生下了孩子。亚伯继续着他的生活。九年后，他收到了保罗死于突发心脏病的消息，此时他已经成为了一名成功的记者。
