英国著名黑人谐星兰尼．亨利进军大银幕的处女作，在片中饰演一位在纽约挣扎成名的演员，因偶然知道了黑道老大不欲人知的真正身份，被凶残的老大弗兰克．兰吉拉追杀。他为了躲避黑帮耳目，乃假扮成一名白种人，并利用自己的演戏细胞来化解各种危机，但也是惊险百出，笑话连场。导演查尔斯．莱恩秉承英国幽默喜剧传统，使本片经营出不错的爆笑效果。针对男主角在真我与假我之间的变化，编导也表现了他对美国黑白种族问题的一些看法，至于男主角那个从事电影特技化妆师的黑人朋友，则为本片带来颇多惊喜的场面。
