◎简 介
20世纪20年代初，盘踞一方的黑帮组织榎家和观音组为了当地铁路兴建权而大打出手，双方死伤数人，观音组老大更死于暗杀。在此之后，双方主要头目伏法入狱。转眼六年过去，大正天皇驾崩，新任天皇大赦天下，当年械斗的两派头目纷纷出狱。此时，榎家老大病亡，榊哲之助（夏八木勲 饰）出任新一代的老大，观音组则由五十岚悟（田中浩 饰）继位。时过境迁，两派头目都不愿风波再起。在日本侠菊会老大浅仓玄龙（丹波哲郎 饰）的调停下，双方握手言和，浅仓更安排将榎家前代组长的女儿绫（栗原小巻 饰）嫁给五十岚。然而此时，绫正与本帮内的成员小野寺努（黒沢年男 饰）相恋，小野寺的大哥则正是当年刺杀观音寺老大的岩桥清治（仲代達矢 饰）。黑帮恩仇与染血爱情，注定引发一场看不见光明的战争……
本片为东宝和五社英雄第一部黑帮片。
