◎简 介
江户时代，纸店老板治兵卫（中村吉右衛門 饰）厌倦了日渐丑陋的妻子阿御（岩下志麻 饰）和索然无味的生活，他长期与妓女小春（岩下志麻 饰）待在一起，并许诺为其赎身。三年时光倏忽而逝，治兵卫的赎身钱始终无法凑齐，小春无法忍受每天接待不同的男人，她与治兵卫相约共赴黄泉。私奔当晚，治兵卫的表兄——同时也是阿御的哥哥孙右卫门（滝田裕介 饰）找到小春，因阿御曾经拜托小春借助丈夫，因此她上演一处变心闹剧，迫使治兵卫放弃了自己。回归到正常生活的治兵卫闷闷不乐，某日他从岳母口中听说小春即将嫁给富商，他和妻子担心小春会为了自己而死，于是夫妇俩凑钱准备为这个坚贞的女子赎身……
本片取材于近松门左卫门的“净琉璃"作品，并荣获1970年电影旬报最佳女主角（岩下志麻）、最佳导演和最佳影片奖。
