小有名气的电视人马丁（皮尔斯·布鲁斯南 Pierce Brosnan 饰）因为不小心和未成年少女发生了关系而将面临身败名裂的下场。莫莲（托妮·科莱特 Toni Collette 饰）的儿子身患残疾生活无法自理，于是，每一日，莫莲都要在照顾儿子的琐碎中度过，一步都无法离开。杰斯（伊莫珍·波茨 Imogen Poots 饰）的姐姐于多年前神秘失踪，这场意外一直如同乌云般笼罩在少女的头上。JJ（亚伦·保尔 Aaron Paul 饰）在事业和感情上都遭受了巨大打击，生活几乎无法再继续。
