◎简 介
明治中期，九州赌徒帮派矢野组组长被人暗杀，其独女龙子（藤纯子 饰）解散帮会，以父亲尸体旁遗落的钱包为线索四处寻找凶手。龙子怀揣小太刀，五年间走遍全国各地的赌场，因出色的赌技而赢得“红牡丹阿龙”的绰号。
在岩国某赌场，龙子拆穿庄家作弊手段，引起纠纷，幸得流浪赌徒片桐（高仓健 饰）出手相助。与片桐分手后，龙子得知曾见过杀手容貌的阿新的下落，遂启程寻找，并在道后与熊虎组组长虎吉（若山富三郎 饰）结为兄妹。经熊虎推荐，龙子和阿新前往拜会大阪千成一家第二代首领加仓井（大木实 饰），却偶然在此得知真相……
