威尔（罗根·马歇尔-格林 Logan Marshall-Green 饰）和伊登（坦米·布兰查德 Tammy Blanchard 饰）曾拥有一个幸福的三口之家，但是数年前儿子的意外身亡让夫妻俩的生活跌落谷底。在此之后，他们选择分手，各自展开不同的人生。这一日，威尔接到来自伊登的邀请函，邀请他和现任女友基拉（伊梅雅格特伊·科伦尼伊乐迪 Emayatzy Corinealdi 饰）来夫妻俩曾经有过快乐和悲伤记忆的房子里参加派对。面色凝重的威尔驱车抵达，见到了新老朋友、伊登及其现任丈夫戴维（米契尔·哈思曼 Michiel Huisman 饰）。
派对中途，戴维向众人播放了一个位于墨西哥新兴宗教组织的宣传视频，随后引导众人玩起吐露心中真实所想的游戏。只不过所谓的游戏似乎渐渐偏离了方向……
