◎简 介
东晋末年，某大户人家小姐祝英台（乐蒂 饰）渴望前往杭城求学，无奈父亲不允，以致英台茶不思饭不想，忧郁成疾。未久，英台想出妙计，假扮郎中阐明小姐病因，终于令父亲点头同意。在求学途中，假扮男装的英台巧遇风流倜傥的梁山伯（凌波 饰）。二人相谈投机，结伴通行。三年同窗，英台和山伯结为好友，情深意笃，在朝夕相处的过程中，英台心中渐渐萌生对山伯的爱意。无奈碍于身份，不忍道破实情。某日，英台为父亲苦苦催还，只得告假还家，由此演出十八相送的经典戏码。虽是这般试探与暗示，那愚讷的心上儿却没能了知心意，一别成了永远……
本片根据中国经典民间故事改编，并荣获第二届金马奖最佳影片、最佳导演、最佳女主角（乐蒂）、最佳演技特别奖（凌波）等六项大奖。
