沃尔特（吉欧夫·斯图兹 Geoff Stults 饰）是一名美国大兵，他有一个异于常人的特点，那就是特别擅长于找人或者找东西。凭借着这一特长，沃尔特在伊拉克立下了屡屡战功，抓获了无数的叛徒，也拆卸了无数的炸弹。然而，常在河边走哪有不湿鞋，再一次拆弹行动中，沃尔特身受重伤，陷入了昏迷之中。
几个月后，沃尔特终于醒来，等待着他的，是沉重的荣誉勋章以及退伍的决定。炸弹对沃尔特的大脑产生了无法复原的伤害，但与此同时也升级了他的一技之长，沃尔特决定成为一名私家侦探。随着时间的推移，沃尔特的名声越来越大，前来找他帮忙的人也越来越多，沃尔特无法避免的开始接触到权力的中心。
