◎简 介
陈金城（郑耀中、韩宜邦饰）自幼家境困顿，父亲（陈博正饰）为打铁师傅，母亲（黄婕菲饰）体弱多病；艰困的环境，养成陈医师的坚毅性格。金城好学不倦加上很有读书天分，从小品学兼优；而老师们的协助，更让他习医过程一路顺遂。台大医学院毕业后，在台大接受住院医师训练时，木讷的金城遇见了生命中最亲密的伴侣，朱恬仪（陈怡嘉饰）。
听闻大林慈济医院即将开办后，他毅然回乡服务；从大林慈院试营运时期就全心投入，一个人负责一科，独撑大局，艰辛的维持了四年。一向只为病人着想、从不喊累的金城，幸好有家里贤内助的恬仪、医院专师玉玲（黄瑄饰）的协助，总算不负乡亲与慈济医疗志业的期望，让大林慈济成为云嘉南地区神经外科医治疑难重症的首选。大林慈院的神经外科，陆续有医师报到，分担金城肩上的重担。
任职副院长的金城，以为责任稍轻时，却免不了面临生老病死别离苦，让孝顺的金城与恬仪夫妻俩心力交瘁，但失去亲人的痛，也让金城在大医王生涯里有着领悟，以前他只懂得医身，现在的他懂得医心，医的不只是病人心、家属心，同时也医着自己的心。
