◎简 介
古希腊神话相传自然界的四大元素：风，火，水，土，它们各自有一块代表的神石。这四块元素神石连同第五元素，被蒙督沙瓦人在1914年带离了地球。300年后，23世纪，地球面临着一场浩劫。蒙督沙瓦人带着第五元素和四大元素神石重返地球，以帮助地球度过劫数。可惜携有第五元素的飞船却被另一外星人孟加罗人击落了。地球人仅获得第五元素的残骸。
实验室利用第五元素残骸的DNA重新构造了第五元素，构造出一个漂亮的红发女郎莉露。莉露与一身痞气的达拉斯一同前往一个叫“失落天堂”的星球找寻四块元素神石。但是在战斗中莉露受伤昏迷。最后达拉斯用爱唤醒了莉露，拯救了地球。
幕后：
模特儿为了大战外星人，穿上名牌时装设计师高蒂埃的戏服。高蒂埃从流传地下的性虐待发烧友那里借用了装束，将黑色改为白色，骇世惊俗，但跟本片其他内容（如纽约街景、男主角的公寓）一样，只能就物论物欣赏，跟影片整体毫无关系。一旦裸体女郎跟威利斯联手行动，必然势不可挡，人类得救在望。影片的色彩大胆亮丽，某些造型也不乏创意。但作为一部卡通化动作片，法国编导似乎没意识到故事的荒唐，因而除了形象刺眼，总体缺乏那种漫画般的调皮和捉弄人后窃喜的心态。
穿帮镜头：
·显示错误：在电影刚开始，就在里卢打破玻璃之前，那本应该是“牢不可破的”。你可以看到玻璃已经有裂纹，预示着即将被打破。
·连贯性：整部电影，好几次可以看见佐格的瘸腿先是从右腿变成左腿，然后又回到右腿。
