未来科幻世界中，人类栖息地被划分为资源高度垄断的“上城”与环境恶劣的“下城”。下城居民在严苛的规则下，依靠一种名为“粉泉”的营养物质勉强维生。为了拯救身患重度“地下热”的女儿仁美，下城父亲金翰毅然踏上前往上城寻找传说中神奇解药“源泉”的危险旅程。
潜入上城后，金翰震惊地 揭开了统治者奥林维持上城虚假繁荣背后的惊天阴谋：权贵们赖以永生的“红泉”，实则是通过残酷剥夺下城人生命力炼制而成。
金翰由此得知，作为科学家的父亲金岩当年为了阻止这场人道灾难，早已将能够中和红泉的“终极抗体”隐藏在了金翰的血脉之中。面对关乎整个人类命运的善恶抉择，金翰放弃了独善其身，选择以自我牺牲的代价摧毁了剥削阶级的核心枢纽，粉碎了奥林的阴谋，为下城无数百姓赢得了生存的尊严与文明重生的希望。
