◎简 介
弗兰克（詹姆斯・斯图尔特 James Stewart 饰）是一名飞机驾驶员，一天，他奉命驾驶着一架搭载着油田工人的运输机从撒哈拉沙漠上空驶过，不幸遭遇了沙尘暴，恶劣的天气令弗兰克不得不将飞机迫降在了茫茫的沙漠之中。迫降的过程中，飞机机身多处受损，一时之间无法再度起飞，如此一来，一群人就被困在了沙漠中央。
就在众人走投无路之际，一名乘客挺身而出，他自称是一名飞机设计师，在他的建议之下，大家决定将还没有破损的零件从飞机上拆下来，用以制造另一架小型飞机，哪知道在建造新飞机的过程中，意外频出，人员伤亡惨重。
