◎简 介
亚卡拉监狱位于美国旧金山海湾，是当时防卫密度最高的监狱，里面关押的都是十恶不赦的罪犯。这座监狱被称为是史上最难逃脱的监狱。
弗兰克（克林特・伊斯特伍德 Clint Eastwood 饰）因为抢劫银行的罪名而被关进了亚卡拉监狱，在这里，他结识了擅长驯养老鼠的利姆图斯（弗兰克・罗茨 Frank Ronzio 饰）以及拥有卓越的艺术细胞的天才画家“医生”（罗伯茨・布洛瑟姆 Roberts Blossom 饰）。因为良好的表现和高超的智商，弗兰克被典狱长派往监狱的图书馆工作，在那里，他遇见了囚犯领袖英格理士（保罗・本杰明 Paul Benjamin 饰）。典狱长专治而粗暴的统治让囚犯们渐渐心生怨怼，在一系列过激事件发生后，弗兰克决定带领大家越狱。
