被列入世界吉尼斯纪录的最长科幻系列电视剧《神秘博士》将迎来第50周年的播放纪念。为了庆祝这部长寿电视剧的半百生日，英国广播公司BBC电视台制作了《神秘博士》特辑，不仅将在英国电视台和电影院同步播映，还将首次以3D形式与观众见面。
据悉，此次纪念活动将成为一次全国性的庆祝活动。BBC电视台电视剧部门相关负责人本・史蒂文森表示这部穿越时空的科幻电视剧的纪念甚至可以与女王的60周年钻禧和奥运会相媲美，庆祝活动将持续一年，并在11月达到高潮。年初，印有11任博士头像的纪念邮票由英国皇家邮政发布。有报道表示，之前几任博士的扮演者将齐聚一堂，在特辑中集体现身。
