◎简 介
汤姆（格雷戈·金尼尔 Greg Kinnear 饰）虽然正值壮年，却过着游手好闲贪吃懒做的生活，在一次犯罪被捕后，汤姆为了免除自己的牢狱之灾而无可奈何的选择了找一份正经的工作。就这样，汤姆来到了邮局成为了其中的一名员工，专门负责处理投递无门的信件。
在阅读这些信件的过程中，汤姆被信中所记录的不幸和悲哀所打动，决定献上自己微薄的力量。他挑选了一些写给上帝的信，以上帝的身份一一回复，提供建议和帮助，哪知道这小小的善意的举动却引发了一连串的连锁反应，甚至被新闻记者写进了报道之中公之于众。让汤姆没有想到的是，他竟然因此成为了被告，被告上了法庭。
