◎简 介
故事发生在1988年的夏天，埃尔文（保罗·路德 Paul Rudd 饰）和兰斯（埃米尔·赫斯基 Emile Hirsch 饰）两人既是同事，亦是彼此唯一的陪伴。他们的工作简单而又枯燥，那就是替一条看上去永远都不会有尽头的公路画路标。
兰斯习惯了灯红酒绿的热闹生活，一下子置身于寂静的荒野之中，他感到十分抓狂。但埃尔文则恰恰相反，安静的环境和专注的工作给他带来了不少的灵感。每天，他都会给自己远在天边的女友写上一封热情洋溢的信，而他的女友恰恰正是兰斯的姐姐。孤独和寂寞之中，两个男人之间少不了吵吵闹闹，然而，正是这些矛盾给他们日复一日的生活和工作带来了活力和动力。
