马克思（詹姆斯·范德比克 James Van Der Beek 饰）和兰斯（保罗·沃克 Paul Walker 饰）是无话不谈的好友，与此同时，兰斯亦是小狼队中的强力前锋。然而，在一场十分重要的比赛来临之际，兰斯却因受伤而退出了球队，取而代之的，竟然是半吊子的马克斯。让大家都没有想到的是，马克思竟然干得不错，一下子，他从默默无闻的小卒成为了小镇英雄。可是，胜利带来了荣耀，却也带来了麻烦。
