上海，1938-1941。当世界大战在欧洲地区濒临爆发之际，遭纳粹迫害的犹太人逃亡至海外的机会也越见渺茫。当时，唯有还在中国的上海，无需任何文件证明就可让外藉人士迁入，於是，有超过两万名犹太人，一波波地涌入上海。从远离战火荼毒的「小维也纳」，到如集中营般拥挤脏乱的外来居民区。这群犹太人的海外流亡生涯，与这个异国城市的命运，也因此有了密不可分的关连。
本片藉由四位在上海倖晚於难的犹太人讲述亲身遭遇，佐以一些未曾面世的珍贵照片与纪录影片，以及薇婷与史托佛，这两个当时在上海经营贸易与出版的犹太人，所留下来的信件与刑物，垂建出这群犹太人的上海记忆。无论是透过单纯的访谈纪录，亦或是将文字转为画外音配合相关的影像呈现，都彷佛是要带领着观眾进入这些人物的脑海内，去见证他们在那残破岁月中的艰辛与无奈。
本片配乐极为出色，运用了传统的犹太及中国的乐器与乐风，也穿插着西...
