佐藤良人（NAOTO饰）的母亲安江（凉饰）一个人经营着烤肉店“根岸苑”，这是亡夫留下的唯一的遗物。一个女人独自开店，一边养育儿子，一边亲手做出充满爱意的料理，这对安江来说是幸福的时光，对良人来说，吃母亲亲手做的美食是最幸福的时候。
这是深受人们喜爱的“根岸苑”，但由于人气美食评论家古山（松尾谕饰）所写的毫无根据的报道，来店光顾的客人骤减。在店铺一点点恢复活力的时候，良人想让一直一心忙碌工作的安江能够照顾他，于是不久后安江就决定关店了。
18年后，良人离开了家，成为一个没有出头之日的自由撰稿人。有一天，他与编辑竹中静香（土屋太凤饰）一同被任命成立只收集“真货”的新美食情报网站。第一弹的主题是“缘分的烤肉”。虽然良人决定接受，但是也为这份工作感到苦恼，此时他收到了关系已经疏远了的母亲安江病倒的消息。良人下不了和母亲见面的决心，通过到访名店进行采访的过程，...
