人到中年的崔海甲（金允石 饰）是一个超级愤世嫉俗的大叔级导演，他质疑一切国家政策，嘲笑球迷四年一度爆发的爱国热情，指责政府剥削民脂民膏。他的乖张举止虽然得到贤惠的妻子安凤熙（吴妍秀 饰）的包容，但是却也给家人带来不少的麻烦，家中小店鲜少有人光顾，海甲本人则被公安部门作为赤色分子重点关照。来自周遭的压力和排挤越来越大，海甲带着老婆、儿子娜罗、小女儿娜来来到家乡的南方小岛，在废弃的民居展开全新生活。清新的空气，自由的人生，而老愤青海甲关于民主和自由的抗争仍未结束……本片根据日本作家奥田英朗的同名原作改编，此前该小说曾由已故日本导演森田芳光搬上银幕。
