20世纪70年代，小人物金成根（薛景求饰）一心想成为演员，可是事与愿违遭受了无数的挫折。偶然机缘他得到演员面试的机会，谁知经和其他通过初试的人遭到无情暴打，奄奄一息之际得知终选通过。原来某国家神秘组织正策划南北会谈的阴谋，于是命令金成根在短时间内惟妙惟肖模仿金日成，在这一过程中他越陷越深。21世纪，金成根的儿子金太植（朴海日饰）被债务逼得焦头烂额，走投无路的时候他打算卖掉父亲留下的老房子，而为了得到父亲的手章，他将活在金日成世界里的父亲从医院接回。伟大的社会主义国家首长和不成器的资本主义儿子终于回到了同一屋檐下……
