Mikey是个看似天真的小男孩，然而凡是收养他的家庭总会发生一连串无法解释的“意外”死亡，之后他又被新的家庭收养。

在影片开头，养母因为Mikey在屋里玩火而教训了他，结果他把妹妹淹死在游泳池，趁养母洗澡时电死她，拿球棒打死了养父。警方没有怀疑Mikey，因为他才9岁，  警察 听信了他编的故事，以为是有人闯进屋杀了这家人。

Mikey被带到一个新家。他爱上邻居的漂亮大姐姐Jessie，但是Jessie对他没兴趣，因为两人年龄相差15岁，而且Jessie有男友。学校的一位老师注意到Mikey的异常举动，开始调查他。结果Mikey把Jessie的男友电死在浴池里，然后杀掉了养母、老师、校长，还差点杀死了Jessie，最后制造煤气爆炸烧死养父。Mikey伪造了自己也被一同烧死的假象金蝉脱壳。在影片结尾，Mikey化名Josh，再次走进一个新的家庭。
