因为妇产科护士坦承12年前将有钱中产阶级的Quesnoy家的男孩与下层阶级Groselle（北非移民）家的女孩掉包，现在Quesnoy不想交还女 儿，还想把儿子Momo买过来。Momo是在粗野恶劣的家庭环境中长大的早熟聪明圆滑小惯窃，但是他到了Quesnoy家却把他们弄得鸡犬不宁。

这是一部社会讽刺剧，对有钱阶级和没钱阶级同时进行炮轰。故事讲一个护士跟上司有染，曾故意将两个初生婴儿调包。12年后，上司的妻子去世，但他不愿跟情妇结婚，于是她大爆调包秘密，使两户贫富差距相当明显的家庭陷入各自的危机。富家愿意把自己孩子接回去，穷的那家则拼命敲诈；穷家女儿回到富家后，将很多以前的习惯带了过去；富家的女儿对自己亲身父母颇为好奇，但他们却并不想把她领回去。
