梦想成为插画家的纱织（井上真央 饰）有个死穴，那就是极其不擅长英语，看到英语就会头疼。中学时期的某次英语考试甚至考出了4分的成绩。纱织认为自己今后都将不会和英语发生任何关系，结果却遇上了来自美国的作家托尼（Jonathan Sherr 饰）。托尼非常痴迷于各种语言，对汉字之美一直很向往，机缘巧合来到了日本，结果遇上了插画家纱织。一段异国恋就此展开。在恋爱的过程中，因为二人来自不同的国家，想法上有很多不同，但这不是矛盾，反而成为了二人进一步了解彼此的方法。在姐姐（国仲凉子 饰）的婚礼上，已同居的二人考虑到了结婚。但这似乎是一个麻烦的问题……

本剧改编自小栗左多里的同名漫画，故事内容根据作者和其美籍爱人托尼的真实恋爱故事改编，充满动人的小情趣。
