伤心欲绝的山姆流浪在异国他乡，偶然之中邂逅了名为伊迪斯（玛丽·阿斯特 Mary Astor 饰）的寡妇。伊迪斯的善良和开朗深深的吸引着山姆，两人之间迸发出了无疑伦比的激情，可是，就在山姆想要和伊迪斯私定终身之时，被男爵抛弃的芙兰回到了他的身边。
