莫菲（凯文·科斯特纳）、迈克尔（库尔特·拉塞尔）、格斯（大卫·阿奎特）等五人来到拉斯维加斯，里维埃拉饭店赌场里，这里正在举行一场盛大的“猫王模仿大赛”，上千个身穿紧身舞衣，留着大鬓角的模仿者云集在这里，气氛显得热烈又嘈杂。但是他们可不是为了什么模仿大赛，而是想趁此机会洗劫这里的赌场，大捞一票。眼下，他们也都化装成猫王混迹于人群之中，只不过，在他们的吉他箱里，装的都是各式各样的犀利武器和爆破工具。

莫菲的精心策划没有白费，抢劫顺利的难以置信，五个人带着320万美金从饭店顶层天台乘直升机从容逃脱。但是正当其他几个人迫不及待地幻想着如何享用这笔不义之财的时候，莫菲却早就在盘算如何能独吞这笔巨款，心狠手辣的莫菲决定对四个同伙下黑手。但他没想到的是，曾经和他一起坐了数年大牢的的迈克尔竟穿着避弹衣，侥幸逃过了一死。迈可尔凭他对莫菲多年交往自信对莫菲的一举一动都了如指掌，于是，他带着曾和他做过一夜夫妻的单身母亲赛波（科特妮·考克斯）以及她那个有盗窃癖的儿子杰西，分秒必争地上了路，他必须要赶在莫菲之前拿到赃款。

意外的是，自以为能独吞赃款的莫菲在路上出了车祸，贻误了“战机”，当他回到存放赃款的旅店的时候，发现赃款已不翼而飞，这才得知迈克尔不但没死，还抢在他之前把钱拿走了。气炸了肺的莫菲马上动身去追迈克尔，而拿到的钱的迈克尔也不好过，一边要担心莫菲会找到他，一边还要提防着赛波，因为她也正对这笔钱不怀好意，毕竟一夜的感情比起320万美金的诱惑来说则显得逊色太多。

事情极具戏剧性的发展越来越像一场螳螂捕蝉黄雀在后的阴谋游戏，那么，是谁笑到了最后呢？大家拭目以待。
