在印地安娜州伯里斯郊的席如一家，在一个清静的早晨，当妻子家丽丝送丈夫唐、女儿辛蒂及儿子拉如佛出门后，三个越狱犯强行进入她的家中，他们是克林和他的弟弟还有一名大汉。黄昏时刻，父子三人在毫不知情的情况下回来，皆成为这三名罪犯绑架的人质，逃犯们要在他们家一直呆到克林的情妇送钱来才能离开。虽然警方知道这些逃犯还在这一带，但是唐无法与外界交往。克林的情妇把钱送到唐的公司里，克林的同伴沉不住气拿着钱就往外逃，结果被警察发现并将其击毙，也因此暴露了他们的目标，从而遭警察包围而被击毙。
