本片是以前任ICE情报局探员Matt Helm（迪恩·马丁 Dean Martin 饰）为主角的系列电影第一集（总共有四集）。
中共的秘密情报员童震（维克多·布鲁诺 Victor Buono 饰）阴谋计划令一枚美军飞弹转向，以摧毁美方的一处核弹试爆场，已经半退休的顶尖情报员Matt 虽不想再次投入尔虞我诈的间谍世界，却仍接受蒂娜（Daliah Lavi 饰）的请托，以阻止童震阴谋得逞；两人旋即带着不可思议的精密尖端武器，前往童震位于亚利桑那州的秘密地下基地，展开一场东西方情报员的世纪大对决。
