亨利五世在登基之前是一个混迹于声色犬马之中登徒子，但在登上王位之后，他成为了一个贤明的国王，他善于用兵，精于理政，深受人民的爱戴。亨利五世未了夺回对法兰西王位的继承权，预备向法国国王宣战。在动兵之前，他与众大臣和教士商议，确定动兵的合理合法性。而法国皇太子在此时却派使臣来羞辱亨利五世，这坚定了他向法国宣战的决心。正在亨利五世做战前准备的时候，朝野之中却出了三个叛徒，但被亨利五世识破，对他们处以极刑。之后他派海军远征，纪律严明，不许侮辱法兰西人，不得抢夺他们的财务。在阿尔库金战役中，英军处于绝对劣势，但亨利五世以普通士兵的身份安慰众将，最终取得胜利。法王割地赔款，将女儿许配给亨利五世，两国永结联盟。
