故事发生在公元300年的罗马帝国，一场大火将罗马国王迪奥克里田（Robert Medley 饰）的王宫付之一炬，损失十分的惨重。侍卫队长塞巴斯蒂安（莱昂纳多·特雷维谬 Leonardo Treviglio 饰）曾是罗马国王最为宠幸的男人，在此次事故之中却沦为了罪魁祸首，为了惩罚他，国王不得不将他放逐到了茫茫的沙漠之中。

贾斯丁（理查德·沃里克 Richard Warwick 饰）、阿迪安（Ken Hicks 饰）、马鲁斯（Steffano Massari 饰）等六名士兵负责看管塞巴斯蒂安，然而对于他们来说，这并不是一件好差事。一行人在无穷无尽的沙漠中行走着，白天，他们练习格斗以消磨时间，每当夜晚来临，一种奇妙的气氛渐渐的浮上水面。
