本片由《暮光之城：暮色》的女导演凯瑟琳•哈德威克（Catherine Hardwicke）执导，惊悚片《孤儿》的编剧大卫•约翰森（David Johnson）负责剧本改编。浓郁的哥特风格和大量的黑暗元素让人对此片印象深刻。
