怀揣着对未来的无尽憧憬，年轻的世珍（郑有美 饰）背井离乡千里迢迢的来到了繁华的大都市首尔，在那里，她即将展开新的工作生活。可是，现实并不如想象的那样美好，在拮据的生活条件下，世珍不得不蜗居在一间位于地下室的简陋小房子里。然而，即便是这样，世珍也依然抱着积极乐观的态度过着每一天，唯一让她感到困扰的，是住在隔壁的那个粗犷凶恶的男子。

男子名叫吴东哲（朴重勋 饰），曾经混迹于黑社会的他为了替老大顶罪而锒铛入狱，虽说如今已经重获自由，可是身心俱疲的他却再也找不到曾经的那股冲劲了。就是这样的一对毗邻的男女，两人之间不断的产生着误会和笑话，但在渐渐熟悉的过程中，世珍发现了吴东哲那颗已经落灰的真挚和善良的内心，一股清新温暖的感情渐渐的萦绕在了两人的心头。
