◎简　　介

一九四二年，第二次世界大战，日军入侵马来西亚时，一支游击队在美籍工程师法瑞、马来青年吴与欧亚混血籍女郎丹娜的领导下，进入森林继续对抗日军，三人患难生死与共。三年后，日军投降。

当澳印军队纷纷复员开拔回国，在车站上，法瑞告X已购置橡胶园谋发展，劝吴留下参加，不料吴误入歧途，车开前，吴掏出传家护符赠法，留作纪念，但从今后友谊结束，各行其是，法与丹颓然目送吴离开。

八年后，法瑞经营得法，已成当地实业界名人，丹娜执教乡村学校，也身兼教师联谊会主席，二人相爱，生活过得相当愉快。那时，吴已潜回马来，领导马共展开恐怖行动。法瑞的产业虽未受损害，但经不起当局的相劝，借重法过去与吴的关系，法独自深入森林寻吴，替吴与马来作公开谈判铺路，但不欢而归。

归途中，法在海滩结识杜林的女儿甘黛丝，甘对法的英俊仪表，芳心为之暗许。那时，杜林已晋升为英国驻马来亚高级专员了，他作风开明...
