希腊船王欧纳西斯与美国甘奈迪总统遗霜贾桂琳的一段罗曼史，曾经是在七十年代轰动世界的头条花边新闻，本片即是以两人的故事为蓝本拍摄而成的“内幕揭秘电影”。由老练的安东尼．奎因扮演船王，艳丽的杰奎琳．比塞特扮演前第一夫人，从造型到演技都不作第二人选。可惜本片在剧情安排上却太过肥皂剧化，使人们期望可以看到真实的名人情史的心理为之落空，导演李．汤普逊曾以动作战争片《六壮士》享有盛誉，而他执导浪漫文艺片显然逊色了一点。
