经过了三年的牢狱之灾，汤米（蒂姆·艾伦 Tim Allen 饰）终于重获了自由，多亏了姐姐维基（西格妮·韦弗 Sigourney Weaver 饰）的不离不弃，汤米才得以在这个冰冷而残酷的世界中找到一块可以安生的土地。可是，对于汤米的到来，姐夫杰夫（雷·利奥塔 Ray Liotta 饰）的态度并不能算得上友善，可是汤米相信，时间能够证明他的改过自新。
