皮库（迪皮卡·帕度柯妮 Deepika Padukone 饰）是一名女建筑师，在职场中非常精明强干的她生活里也是独立自主的新兴女性。母亲过世后，皮库不忍心看到父亲落单，于是照顾和陪伴父亲的责任就全部落在了她的肩上。然而，孤独的生活和丧妻的悲痛让父亲的性格变得越来越古怪，父女之间的隔阂渐渐变深，矛盾一触即发。
父女两人在加尔各答有一处房产，房产中介企图说服皮库的父亲将这处房产卖掉。老父亲不但拒绝了中介的建议，还要求女儿驱车带他前往加尔各答，就这样，父女两人上路了。途中，他们还遇见了出租车旅游公司的老板拉纳（伊尔凡·可汗 Irrfan Khan 饰）。
