◎简　　介

1968年，在宾夕法尼亚州一个叫造纸谷的小镇上，颇有抱负的小作家丝黛拉（佐伊·玛格丽特·科莱蒂饰），以及她的两位少年朋友奥吉（加布里埃尔·拉什饰）和查克（奥斯汀·扎祖尔饰），他们在万圣节的晚上用大便、垃圾等物做成的“炸弹”，扔在学校里的恶霸汤米（奥斯汀·艾布拉姆斯饰）的车上，当愤怒的汤米想要报复并在后面追赶时，幸好雷蒙（迈克尔·加尔扎饰），在关键时刻帮了丝黛拉他们。为了寻求刺激，丝黛拉、查克和奥吉带着新朋友雷蒙来到了一座鬼屋，这座房子在很多年前属于贝洛斯家族，他们是小镇的创始家族，在这里经营着造纸工厂，小镇因此而得名。贝洛斯家族别墅里曾住了一名神秘女孩莎拉（凯瑟琳·波拉德饰），她受尽家人的折磨，并被独自关在一间黑暗的小房间里，禁止外出。孤独的莎拉于是隔着墙壁给一些孩子们讲恐怖故事，然而听过她讲故事的一些孩子们突然死去，这引起了小镇居民的恐慌和愤怒，莎拉最终在被暴民抓住前用自己的头发上吊自尽了。丝黛拉意外发现了莎拉的故事书，并把它带回了家中，然而她却不知道这本故事书会为她带来怎样的噩梦……
