导演艾米・伯格通过私密的日记条目与家庭录像，完整勾勒出这位美国歌手的形象。我们得以回溯他的童年 —— 那时父亲蒂姆・巴克利离家而去，最终因海洛因过量离世，年仅 28 岁。这样的经历会在灵魂上留下伤痕，再加上本就脆弱的内心，巴克利如流星般迅速蹿红的人生，既是恩赐，也是诅咒。
