◎简　　介

1585年，此时伊丽莎白一世（凯特•布兰切特 Cate Blanchett 饰）已经52岁。她单身未嫁，政治手腕已经非常成熟，处理国务也比年轻时得心应手。她思想开明，允许人们信仰罗马天主教。然而，却屡屡受到苏格兰女王玛丽•斯图亚特的种种对抗，玛丽甚至派杀手暗杀伊丽莎白未遂。
另一方面，女王还面临着西班牙这个宿敌。西班牙和英国之间的宗教差异，加之海盗活动猖獗的现况，使得二国矛盾日渐尖锐，为日后的战争埋下伏笔。
罗利带着海外新鲜的探险经历在女王面前出现，令女王多年尘封的心有了悸动。然而，女王的爱情，注定了要屈服于国家的利益。
