1989年的寂静深夜，南哈特福特三名神职人员遭到屠杀。行凶者名叫玛莉娅·罗西（苏珊·克萝蕾 Suzan Crowley 饰），事后被诊断体内藏有七重人格。在此后的岁月里，她被带往意大利驱魔。时隔20年，玛莉娅的女儿伊莎贝拉·罗西（费尔南达·安德拉德 Fernanda Andrade 饰）决定拍摄一部关于母亲的纪录片，她启程前往罗马，见到了久违的母亲，而玛莉娅所说的话令她颇为震惊。为了探明母亲的病因，她在当地找到了两位瞒着教会偷偷进行驱魔的教士年轻驱魔师（赛门·克特曼 Simon Quarterman 与伊凡·海慕特 Evan Helmuth 饰）。在他们的努力下，玛莉娅体内的魔鬼们渐渐显现出来……
