古老的国度中孕育着古老而宁静的王国，王国的边境是一个同样安宁祥和的小村，这里最新电影的人们朴实勤劳。但就在这一切平静的背后，却暗藏着更加黑暗与恐怖的势力。魔鬼巫师加利安（雷·利奥塔饰）带着他的野兽兵团已然悄悄地逼近这里，并趁着一个漆黑的夜晚对小村发起了突然袭击。手无寸铁的村民只能在四散奔逃中无助地惨叫，绝大多数的村民都惨死在了野兽兵团的刀斧之下。而村民法莫尔（杰森·斯坦森饰）的妻子和儿子也未能幸免。还好，法莫尔貌美的妻子索拉娜（克莱尔·弗兰妮饰）被魔鬼巫师加利安看中，侥幸从刀口下得生，但却落入了加利安的魔爪…… 外出归来的法莫尔决定誓报夺妻杀子之仇，并在民间组织了一支敢死队，前往加利安的老巢与其一绝生死。此时，统治地位同样受到魔鬼兵团以及黑暗魔法势力动摇的国王康雷德（伯特·雷诺兹饰）也决定倾全力与黑暗势力斗争到底。忠诚的法师（约翰·赖斯-戴维斯饰）以及他的两位生死之交也都加入了这股“反黑”大军，冒险进入了那块危险的不明之地，与加利安的魔鬼兵团展开了一场殊死而轰轰烈烈地搏斗……
