◎简　　介

善良的雅各?彼得森（麦德斯?米科尔森饰）在印度开了一间孤儿院，致力救济无家可归的孤儿。当他的孤儿院正面临倒闭危机的时候却收到了一笔来自一名叫乔真（罗夫?拉斯加德饰）的丹麦商人的慷慨捐款。但这名商人却附带了一个条件，他要求雅各离开印度，前往去参加他女儿的婚礼。　　为了得到捐款，雅各独自前往了丹麦。因为答应了孤儿院里某个孩子要为他办生日会，所以雅各也订好了回印度的行程。后来他找到了乔真，雅各发现他是个傲慢的人，而且乔真因为酗酒留下了后遗症　　他应邀出席了婚礼，婚礼上他遇到了乔真的妻子海伦（西德斯?巴比特?科努德森饰），即使多年没见，他们两还是认出了彼此……
