金发碧眼的丽诺尔（碧悠·菲利浦 Bijou Phillips 饰）是新墨西哥城Larkspurg大学一名前途似锦的学生，在邂逅了工程师弗兰克（詹姆斯·莫瑞 James Murray 饰）后，两人天雷勾动地火，陷入无可救药的热恋之中。丽诺尔避孕失败，眼看肚子越来越大，她决定暂停学业，搬到弗兰克的家待产。正当怀孕刚刚六个月的时候，丽诺尔突然出现产前症状。经过紧张的剖腹产手术，她产下一名发育健康、完全的婴儿。然而随着婴儿的出世，一场惨剧遽然发生。为丽诺尔手术的医护人员全部死于非命，鲜血染满整个手术室，而凶手却不见踪影。不久，弗兰克和丽诺尔带着孩子回到家中，死亡仍旧如影随形……

本片根据1974年同名电影（It’s Alive）改编。
