兄弟两人的事业逐渐走上了正轨，一日，一位名叫克莱尔（詹妮薇芙·布卓 Geneviève Bujold 饰）的女明星走进了兄弟两人的诊所，她想要一个孩子，却因为身体畸形无法怀孕。埃利奥特和贝弗利都和克莱尔发生了关系，贝弗利更是深深的爱上了克莱尔，但不明真相的克莱尔以为他们是同一人。随着真相的揭开，贝弗利搬往克莱尔的住处和她开始了同居生活，与此同时，兄弟两人的关系开始破裂，而贝弗利的精神也逐渐走向了失常。
