全程参与卧底特工的作者罗伯·梅若在书中披露侦破美国史上最严重的一宗洗钱案内幕。早些时候，曾被一家美国电影制作公司已买下此书的电影版权。本书作者担任卧底特工多年，暗中调查麦德林犯罪集团洗钱案，并与涉及参与洗钱的银行家和商业人士密切来往，这些人至今在世界各地仍拥有极高的权势。

罗伯·梅若乔装是位有钱商人，设法与这些银行家们搭上线，陪同举行私人派对、分享自己的豪华别墅、驾驶劳斯莱斯敞篷车和乘坐私人飞机到世界各地享受奢华生活。通过调查发现，这些人不但参与洗黑钱，还勾结银行家、商人建立起了一个数十亿美元规模的毒品走私帝国。最后，梅若搜集的证据令40多人锒铛入狱。
